The Oswego State men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon at the Romney Tennis Courts, falling, 7-2, to Alfred before dropping a 9-0 decision to Oneonta. The Lakers drop to 0-3 on the year and do not compete again until the spring.

Against Alfred, Tim Van Hine, Jr. (Fr., Apalachin, N.Y.) and D.J. Esposito-Kelley (Fr., Sayville, N.Y.) won at No. 2 doubles, and a heartbreaking 9-7 loss at flight three doubles put the Lakers a 2-1 hole heading into singles action. Esposito-Kelley won, 6-2, 6-3, at flight three singles, while Brian Tosti (Jr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Andrew Gustafson (Sr., Seneca Falls, N.Y.) challenged at flights five and six of singles, respectively, as each lost in supertiebreakers.

Oswego State was unable to match the depth of Oneonta, as the Red Dragons swept through doubles and singles play. Ben Weiss (So., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Gustafson won three service games at flight three doubles, while Van Hine, Jr. and Gustafson had the closest matches for the Lakers in singles action, as each lost, 6-3, 6-3.

The Lakers return to competition on March 31, 2012, hosting Oneonta.
