OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team downed Houghton College Saturday afternoon 7-2 at home. With the win, the team concludes its fall season with a record of 2-2.
Oswego jumped off to a quick start winning all three of the doubles matches.
Alex McCarthy and
Brian Lyudmer defeated Houghton at first 8-4.
Spencer Thorn and Tim Van Hine took second by a score of 8-1, while
John Stanford and
Jon Matros nabbed third by the same score.
McCarthy rode his doubles win right into singles, cruising to a 6-1,6-0 victory at first. Thorn and Van Hine followed suit, winning third and fourth singles, respectively. Tyler Buxbaum secured the Lakers final point at sixth singles, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-0.
Men's tennis will return to action in the spring on March 8 for a match on the road against Elmira College.
