Winter Haven, Fla. - The Oswego State baseball team took a tough loss in the first game of a doubleheader today 19-4. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 8-3 and 1-2 in conference. The Eagles move to 9-3 and 2-1.
Oswego found themselves down 9-0 in the first as Brockport scored all nine runs with two outs. Oswego was able to get on the board in the second with a
John Rauseo single and steal, followed by a
Scott Buniak RBI single.
Oswego would close the gap further in the third as
Dan Saccocio and
Eric Hamilton would single and be advanced on a
Mike McMullen groundout.
Tim Smith would single to score both runners and then steal second. A Rauseo single would then bring Smith home to move the score to 10-4.
Brockport would add runs in the fifth, seventh, and ninth to put the game out of reach for the Lakers. Rauseo, Buniak, and
Tyler Baker all went 2-for-3 for the Lakers offense on the day.
Oswego returns to action tonight as they take on Endicott College at 7:30 p.m. and finish its Florida trip on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. against UMass-Dartmouth.
