BOX SCOREOswego, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team cruised past Houghton College 18-5 on Thursday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field. Oswego improves to 7-3 with the nonconference win while the Highlanders drop to 3-7.
The Lakers' margin of victory was their largest of the season, outdoing its 11-point win over Morrisville earlier this year. Prior to Thursday, the last time Oswego had a greater advantage was a 22-5 win over Centre College in March of 2013.
Esther Gabriel led the Lakers with seven points coming on three goals and four assists. The sophomore's point total sets a new career-mark while grabbing a game-high five ground balls.
Also tying a career-best in the game was classmate
Erannan Shattuck, finishing with four goals, a feat she finished with multiple time's last season.
Senior
Megan McNulty paced the squad on defense, collecting a team-best six draw controls while scooping three ground balls.
Nikki Greco and
Bridget Hamlin split time in the net, with Greco stopping four shots in the opening 30 minutes while Hamlin saved two in the final 30.
Two more Lakers finished with multiple-goal games, as
Julia Calandra set a new career-best with three goals while senior
Courtney Cosentino found the back of the net twice. Also scoring for Oswego were

Oswego dominated all aspects of the game, as it outshot Houghton 40-13, grabbed 12 more ground balls (25-13) and won 13 more draw controls (19-6).
The Lakers will return to action at 4 p.m. on Friday when they travel to take on Clarkson University in a nonconference competition.
