BOX SCOREOSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team moved above .500 on the season with a 8-1 victory over Keuka College on Tuesday afternoon at the Romney Indoor Tennis Courts. Oswego's win brings its season mark to 5-4 while the Storm falls to 0-5.
Oswego won each of its singles competitions, starting with
Ben Weiss at the top spot. Weiss downed Justin Fries 8-6 at first singles.
Mike Owens followed in the second slot, winning both sets in the same fashion, 6-1, 6-1.
Tim Van Hine, Jr. and
John Stanford won third and fifth singles, respectively, in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Justin D'Antonio moved from his sixth singles positioning up to the four spot, bringing his four-match win streak with him. Nothing changed for D'Antonio after moving up the ladder, taking down Zack Ward 6-4, 6-0.
Scott Mohr took over the sixth singles place, defeating Garrett Calton 7-5, 6-4.
At doubles, Van Hine and
Spencer Thorn earned a point at second, beating Julian Diaz and Zach Briggs 8-3.
The Lakers' final point came from third doubles as
Sam Carges and
Max McCune took an 8-0 triumph over Ward and Rich Matrassi.
Oswego will return to the courts at 3:30 p.m. on Monday when it travels to La Plume, Pa. to take on Keystone College.
