BOX SCOREPotsdam, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team improved to 9-3 on the season and to 2-2 in the SUNYAC with a 13-6 win over Potsdam. With the win, Oswego moves into fifth position in the conference. The top five teams will earn berths into the conference tournament.
For Oswego,
Erannan Shattuck had a big day as she registered four goals and two assists. She currently leads the Lakers in season-scoring with 44 points. Teammate
Esther Gabriel had a goal and five assists to take over the team lead in assists on the season at 17.
Oswego controlled the game the entire way as
Candace Tarana scored just 28 seconds into the contest. After a Shattuck goal, Tarana struck again.
Mackenzie Kjerstad scored the fourth-straight Oswego goal to put the Lakers up 4-0.
Oswego and Potsdam traded the next six goals as
Emily Lange sandwiched a goal between two more Shattuck scores. Gabriel and Shattuck each added one more in the half to give Oswego a 9-3 lead at the break.
In the second half, Tarana and Lange scored another goal apiece and
Lindsey Eggers added a pair to fend off any threat from the Bears.
On defense,
Nikki Greco made 11 saves to get the win and extend her record to 9-3.
Megan McNulty recorded six ground balls on the afternoon to extend her team lead in that category (36). Oswego dominated the draw as McNulty (5) and Gabriel (6) each controlled as many as the entire Potsdam team (5).
Oswego returns to action at 4 p.m. on Thursday when it travels to conference foe Geneseo.
