Oswego Takes Road Loss to Nationally- Ranked Geneseo

Geneseo, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team took a tough 13-3 loss at the hands of nationally-ranked Geneseo on the road Thursday afternoon. Oswego's loss drops its overall record to 9-4 on the year and 2-3 in SUNYAC competition while the No. 10 Knights improve to 11-1, 3-1.  
 
Geneseo jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 14:57 until Lindsey Eggers put the Lakers on the board with a goal off a free-position shot. The goal was Eggers' 12th of the season.
 
The Knights then added three goals heading into the break to lead Oswego 7-1. Geneseo grew its lead to 10-1 in the second half when Emily Lange notched her 19th goal of the year off a Mackenzie Kjerstad assist at 17:20.
 
Oswego would earn its final goal with 31 seconds remaining as it again took advantage of a free-position attempt, as Esther Gabriel buried her 20th goal of the year in the back of the net.
 
Nikki Greco made 11 stops in goal for Oswego while also tying for the team lead with three ground balls. Eggers was the other Laker to record three ground balls. Eggers, Erannan Shattuck and Candace Tarana paced the team with one caused turnover apiece.
 
Lange and Megan McNulty each controlled two draws for the Lakers.
 
Oswego will be in action again at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts No. 18 Brockport in a pivotal SUNYAC tilt.
