BOX SCOREONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team lost 13-7 at Oneonta on Saturday afternoon in its final regular season game of the 214 campaign. On the year, the Lakers finish 11-6 overall and 3-5 in SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons improve to 11-6 on the season and clinch the No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC Championship with a 5-3 conference mark.
In the early going, Oneonta grabbed a 2-0 lead but Oswego battled back to cut the lead to one as
Mackenzie Kjerstad scored 4:19 into the contest. After the Red Dragons tacked on another goal, the Lakers once again cut the deficit to one at 3-2 as
Emily Lange found the back of the net off a
Kassie Kleine assist. The goal was Lange's 31st of the year.
Oneonta then strung together four-straight goals to lead by five at 7-2. That run would eventually give way to a 9-4 halftime advantage for the Red Dragons.
In the second half, Oneonta preserved its lead, never allowing the Lakers to close the gap to closer than five goals.
Kjerstad led all scorers in the game with four goals, tallying two in each half. Lange had the Lakers next-highest output with two goals, each coming in the first 30 minutes.
Esther Gabriel also had two points, adding a goal and an assist on the day. Kleine finished with the assist on Lange's first goal.
Nikki Greco once again played solid in between the pipes, stopping 16 shots to tie her season-high and fall just one short of her career-best.
Megan McNulty also anchored the defense, causing a team-best two turnovers while tying for a team-high two ground balls along with Kleine and Gabriel.
