ALFRED, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Alfred University Monday evening on the road. With the loss, the Lakers go to 5-7 on the season. Alfred University improves to 6-3.
The Lakers earned their sole point of the match in doubles as
Spencer Thorn and Tim Van Hine teamed up to take down their Saxon opponents 8-4.
In singles, Oswego had two matches go the distance but were unable to capitalize. At first
Alex McCarthy lost the first set 4-6 before taking the second 7-5. He would go on to lose the tie break 4-10 though.
John Stanford also went three sets at sixth, eventually falling to Alfred's Matt Bulogg 3-6, 6-3, 1-6.
Men's tennis will return to the courts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as it travels to Pennsylvania to take on the Keystone College Giants.
