OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team defeated Keuka College 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Romney Indoor Tennis Courts. With the win, Oswego improves to 5-4 on the year. Kueka College remains winless at 0-3.
It was quite the commanding performance by Oswego, as during no set did the Lakers drop more than one game.
Alex McCarthy and
Brian Lyudmer at first doubles defeated their Wolfpack opponents 8-0, as did
Dillon Spall and
Jon Matros at third. Timothy Van Hine Jr. and
Spencer Thorn handled their opponents with ease as well, winning 8-1 at second doubles.
The Lakers continued to dominate in singles too, with McCarthy,
Ryan Korn, Thorn, and Ian Pounchard (first, second, third and sixth, respectively), all won their matches without dropping a single game.
Nick Retzkin earned his first win as a Laker at fifth singles, defeating Keuka's Zach Briggs 6-0, 6-1.
John Stanford completed the shutout winning by the same score at fourth.
Men's tennis will return to the courts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as the team travels to Houghton to take on the Highlanders.
