OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team closed its fall portion of the schedule with a 6-3 win over Elmira College at Romney Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. Oswego concludes the fall with a 2-1 mark while the Soaring Eagles drop to 0-1.
Alex McCarthy,
Jon Matros and
John Stanford each were involved in two Laker points on Saturday. McCarthy won easily at first singles 6-2, 6-0 while Matros went the distance in the second slot, winning in comeback fashion 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. The tandem of McCarthy and Matros would also collect a point in the top spot on the doubles side, beating their Soaring Eagle counterparts 8-4.
Stanford won his fourth singles match in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 before pairing with
Tyler Buxbaum for a 8-6 third double triumph. Oswego's final point came at fifth singles from
Brian Emigholz, beating Elmira's Yaniv Kogan 6-2, 6-3.
