BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's swimming and diving team had its three-meet win streak snapped 132-111 at Brockport on Saturday afternoon. Oswego slips back to .500 on the year at 3-3 while the Golden Eagles improve to 3-1.
On Saturday, the Lakers captured three individual events and one relay as part of their 111 total team points. The first victory of the day was the 200-yard relay medley in the opening event.
Kelsey Oliverio,
Emily Ross,
Riley Synan and
Hannah Jensen combined for a time of 1:57.37, claiming the top spot and 11 points. Synan and Jensen turned in faster times than their counterparts in the third and fourth legs, helping the Lakers squeak out a win by less than a second.
Synan went on to dominate two other events, first the 200-yard IM. In a race that all five swimmers were separated by a little more than three seconds, Synan touched the wall more than two seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Two events later, Synan was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly by almost five seconds. Her time of 1:01.12 was good for nine points for the Lakers.
Oswego's final triumph of the day came in event 23, the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman
Emily Ross beat out a Brockport swimmer by 16-tenths-of-a-second, clocking a 1:14.43 for the win.
The Lakers will return to competition on Friday, Dec. 2 as they take part in the two-day Hamilton College Invitational in Clinton, N.Y. That invite will be Oswego's final competition of the fall semester.
