Weekend Slate Packed with Post Season Action

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Post-season action dominates the weekend's slate as five teams find themselves in playoff action. Spring sports will begin to take shape as well, including the start of the season for baseball.

After earning the fourth seed in the SUNYAC Championship and downing No. 5 Geneseo 75-59 in the first round of the tournament, the men's basketball team will head to top-seed Plattsburgh for the SUNYAC semifinal. The contest will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and the winner will advance to the advance to the finals at 4 p.m. the following day.

The men's ice hockey team will be travelling to Plattsburgh as well, squaring off against the No. 1 Cardinals in the SUNYAC semifinal at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Fourth-seeded Oswego made its way to the semis by way of an 8-0 shutout of No. 5 Brockport at home on Wednesday.

Women's hockey finished its season with a conference record of 6-9-3, garnering it the fifth seed of the ECAC West Championship. The Lakers will now have to head to Buffalo State to take on the No. 4 Bengals at 4 p.m. on Saturday for the tournament's first round.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will head Brockport to cap off the indoor season with the SUNYAC Championships starting on 3 p.m. on Friday and continuing on through Saturday. Oswego will look to capitalize on the fact that it has been to Brockport's SERC twice already this year and now know the track well.

Wrestling is also on the move this weekend as the team heads to Lycoming College in Williamsport Pa. for the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Bouts will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and continue onto the following day.

Spring sports kick off as well this weekend as baseball heads to Virginia for the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament. The four-game stint starts with two games on Saturday, beginning with a 12 p.m. matchup against host Virginia Wesleyan followed by a 3 p.m. bout with RPI. Action will pick up again the following day with a 9 a.m. battle with RPI and then a 3 p.m. contest with the Marlins of Virignia Wesleyan again.
