OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State men's tennis team continued its undefeated season with a 9-0 victory over D'Youville College at Romney Indoor Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. Oswego improved to 5-0 with the win and the Spartans fell to 0-4.
Oswego began the day by capturing all three matches in doubles. The first team, Sam McGrath and Alex McCarthy defeated their counterparts 8-1. Brian Emigholz and Ryan Korn (second) won 8-3 while John Stanford and Jon Matros (third) did not drop a game to the opponent.
The Lakers kept it going in singles as they collected all six points possible and dropped a total of five games. In first singles, McGrath defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2; meanwhile in third singles Korn followed suit with the same score. McCarthy, Emigholz and Nick Retzkin won with double-bagel (6-0, 6-0) score lines.
In fifth singles Brian Manciocchi dropped a game in the first set before finding cruise control and not surrendering another game for the rest of the match.
The Lakers will head to Houghton on Tuesday to play the host Highlanders at 4 p.m.
