SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team – which is receiving votes in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coach Association (IWLCA) Top 20 poll – earned the No. 4 seed to the SUNYAC Championship this past weekend. On Tuesday (May 3), the Lakers host fifth-seeded Potsdam at Laker Turf Stadium. First draw is slated for 4 p.m. as Oswego makes its first appearance in the postseason tournament since 2005.
Tickets for the contests are $6 for adults, $3 for kids ages 5-12 and free for children four. Also, SUNY students of the participating schools are also free with a valid school ID.
Oswego and Potsdam faced off last week in the North Country, with the Lakers subduing the Bears 19-8.
Teresa Shattuck recorded a career-high for points (9) and assists (7) in the contest while senior
Esther Gabriel tied a season-high with six points on five goals and one assist. In net,
Angela Ponto made eight saves while tying a career-high with seven ground balls.
On the year, Oswego has one of the most potent offenses in not only the SUNYAC but the country as well. The team ranks eighth in assists per game (8.43), 11th in points per game (22.79), 21st in scoring margin (6.29) and 22nd in scoring offense (14.36). Individuals rank nationally also, as
Erannan Shattuck and T. Shattuck both rank in the top 10 in assists per game while Gabriel is ninth in free-position percentage.
The winner of Tuesday's game will face the conference and national No. 1 Cortland Red Dragons at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Both the semifinal and title games will be held at Cortland's Stadium Complex.
