Laker Wrestling Headed Back to the Big Apple

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State wrestling team will participate in the Grapple at the Garden for the second-straight year at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Grapple at the Garden – entering its fifth year – brings together college wrestling teams across all three NCAA divisions to compete in a one-day event in the World's Most Famous Arena.

On Sunday, Nov. 27, the Lakers will wrestle in two duals. The first comes at 10:30 a.m. against the Muhlenberg College Mules with the latter bout at 12:30 p.m. versus the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks.
In 2015, Oswego joined 21 other schools in competing in a dual-meet format which has grown in popularity over the past four years. The Laker split its duals a year ago, falling to NCAA Division I Franklin and Marshall College 34-12 in their first match. Later in the day, Oswego won its second match 31-13 over Muhlenberg.

Daniel Smith had an impressive performance last year in both matchups. He was the only Laker to win his weight class against Franklin and Marshall, pinning his opponent in just 2:30. He then outdid himself while competing against his Muhlenberg counterpart, earning a pin in 15-less seconds than his opening bout. Also against the Mules, Mark Milisci won a 7-6 decision while Troy Seymour won by decision as well, his in 5-1 fashion.
