PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 contest at Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. Oswego falls to 2-3 on the year, while the Soaring Eagles picked up their first victory of the season.
Chris Gayvert and
Tyler Buxbaum earned the Lakers only points on the afternoon, both coming in singles. First at fourth singles, Gayvert won both sets by just a single break of serve. In the first stanza, the sophomore started serving and thus was able to collect the set by a tally of 6-3. Gayvert nabbed the second set by a 6-4 tally, following suit with the first.
Buxbaum rolled to a first set win at sixth singles, collecting a couple of breaks and taking it 6-2. He continued to ride the momentum in the second set, winning 6-3.
Oswego breaks from action for a couple of weeks, returning to play after Spring Break with a home match versus Hartwick College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.
