OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team blanked Utica College 9-0 at the indoor Romney Tennis Courts on Wednesday evening. Oswego's victory improves its record to 4-5 on the year and snaps a two-match skid while the Pioneers fall to 1-3.
 
John Stanford, Chris Gayvert, Brian Emigholz and Tyler Buxbaum each won a match in singles and doubles competition. Stanford – a senior – opened with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at first singles over Christopher Dunn. Second singles belonged to Gayvert, who downed his Pioneer counterpart 6-1, 6-2. Emigholz made it three-straight singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph in the third slot. Buxbaum was able to shutout his opponent at fifth singles as was Dillon McDonald in the final spot. The Lakers' other singles win came at fourth from Jimmy Terzian (6-0, 6-2).
 
Gayvert and Emigholz paired for an 8-2 victory at second singles. Stanford joined forces with Jon Matros for a first singles 8-2 victory. Buxbaum called upon Nick Retzkin for the final doubles competition, not allowing a game to fall into Utica's hands.
 
The Lakers will return to the hard courts at 3 p.m. on Monday when they travel to face Alfred University in a rescheduled match from Tuesday, April 11.
