ALFRED, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team moved back to .500 on the year by battling out a 5-4 win at Alfred University on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Lakers improve to 5-5 on the year while the Saxons drop to 3-6.
 
Oswego took one of the doubles matches as Nick Retzkin and Brian Emigholz joined to beat their Alfred counterparts 8-4 at the second position. The Lakers earned the win in singles, however, as it strung together four-straight wins at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles.
 
Retzkin started the push with a straight-sets 6-3, 7-5 victory. At fourth singles Tyler Buxbaum fought from behind and erased a 3-6 first set loss with two 6-3 wins in a row. Emigholz got back in the win column at fifth singles with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Alfred's Kyle Kemper. Jimmy Terzian secured the Laker victory in the final singles position, splitting the first two sets before claiming a 7-5 win in the decisive set.
 
Oswego will wrap its season at 4 p.m. on Friday when it travels to Utica College to face the Pioneers.
