CLINTON, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Hamilton College Continental Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The men competed in the long jump to start the day's field events. Junior
Colin Maggiolo captured a third place finish with a distance of 6.08 meters, while classmate
Akim Cadet finished three spots behind Maggiolo with a distance of 5.99 meters.
While the men participated in the long jump, the women participated in the high jump. Sophomore
Catarina Burke took fourth place with a 1.48 meter jump and classmate
Sarah Yensan followed in a fifth place tie with a jump of 1.43 meters.
The women were particularly successful in the long jump and triple jump.
Tylea McCarthy-Walker led the way in both jumps. The sophomore finished with a distance of 5.29 meters in the long jump to take first, followed by
Bella Dockery in second and Yensan in third. McCarthy-Walker took home the crown in the triple jump as well, this time with freshmen
Samantha Jenks and
Bella Dockery in second and third, respectively.
Maggiolo notched another first-place finish of the day for the Lakers. With a time of 8.88, the Sugar Loaf native beat out eight other competitors in the 60-meter hurdles. Teammate
Charles Callin nabbed a top finish for the Lakers as well, finishing the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.37.
The Lakers return to action on Jan. 27 for the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell University.
