How It Happened
Reichard led the way for the Lakers with a standout victory in the women's 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:12.01. The mark not only secured first place but also met regional qualifying standards and moved her to No. 2 all-time in program history. She later doubled back in the 400 meters, finishing ninth in 1:02.78 to cap an impressive day on the track.
Oswego's relay units delivered key performances, particularly in the 4x800. The men's "A" team of
Miles Thompson, TJ Bowes, JT Goss, and
Evan Young placed third with a time of 8:57.70, while the "B" squad of Tom Mahunik,
Aidan Hafer,
Jeffery Simmons, and
Joseph Gleason followed in fifth at 9:10.75. On the women's side, Angelina Buttigieg,
Sophia Shatynski,
Julia Weaver, and
Grace Stevens also secured a third-place finish in 12:03.71.
In the shorter relays, the men's 4x100 team of
Malik Davis,
Cory Morton,
Soren Wolford, and
Darnell Johnson clocked a 44.49 to place 10th overall. The women's 4x100 saw three Oswego squads finish in the top seven, led by the quartet of
Daiya Kowalski,
Sabrina Schmitt,
Teagan Roy, and
Alexie Tschanz, who placed fourth in 51.58.
Riley Flynn,
Alannah Edwards,
Jenna Stevens, and
Escalin Santos took fifth in 53.95, while
Charlotte Cobene,
Emily Bologna, Lily Gaide, and
Sophia Shatynski finished seventh.
Jeffery Simmons added a strong individual showing in the men's 800 meters, placing fifth with a time of 2:00.34. In the sprints,
Soren Wolford posted a 22.46 in the men's 200 meters, while
Sabrina Schmitt ran 26.64 in the women's 200—good for ninth all-time in program history.
In the 400 meters, Tom Mahunik led the men with a 12th-place finish in 53.24. The Lakers also saw solid efforts in the hurdles, where Angelina Buttigieg placed sixth in the women's 400 hurdles (1:15.78), followed by
Alannah Edwards in ninth (1:24.19).
In the field events, Eric Gordon Wheeler recorded marks of 12.17 meters in the men's shot put and 38.03 meters in the discus.
Gregory Weston (11.77m) and
Teagan Roy (10.15m) competed in the triple jump for the men and women, respectively, while Shea Masse added a 27.46-meter throw in the women's discus.
