Ithaca, NY. - SUNY Oswego track and field turned in an impressive and record-setting performance Tuesday at the Ithaca College Tuesday Meet, highlighted by multiple facility records, first-place finishes, and a deep collection of top-10 results across both the men's and women's squads.

How It Happened
The Lakers' biggest headlines came on the track, where
Jeffery Simmons and
Soren Wolford each etched their names into the facility record books. Simmons captured first place in the men's 800 meters with a winning time of 1:59.15, setting a new facility record and leading a strong Oswego presence in the event. Wolford followed with a record-breaking performance of his own in the men's 200 meters, sprinting to victory in 22.58. He also added a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters (11.24), while teammate
Darnell Johnson placed seventh in the 100 (11.70) and fifth in the 200 (24.03).
Cory Morton delivered one of the most impressive performances of the meet, setting a personal best and a new facility record in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 58.63. Morton wasn't done there, as he also dominated in the field, taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.34.
Gregory Weston added to the Lakers' success in the event with a third-place finish (11.75).
On the women's side, the Lakers showed exceptional depth, particularly in the sprint events. Oswego placed five runners in the top 10 of the 100 meters, led by
Daiya Kowalski (5th, 13.30) and
Sabrina Schmitt (6th, 13.31), followed by
Escalin Santos (7th),
Alexie Tschanz (8th), and
Jenna Stevens (9th). In the 200 meters, Schmitt (6th, 26.90) and Kowalski (7th, 27.00) continued the strong showing.
The women's 4x100 relay teams also impressed, with the quartet of Kowalski, Santos, Schmitt, and
Teagan Roy taking third in 51.05, while
Alexie Tschanz,
Jenna Stevens,
Riley Flynn, and
Alannah Edwards placed fourth in 54.13.
In the hurdles, Angelina Buttigieg and
Alannah Edwards turned in podium finishes in the women's 400-meter hurdles, placing second (1:16.10) and third (1:19.85), respectively.
Sophia Shatynski led the Lakers in the women's 400 meters with a fourth-place finish (1:13.50), followed by Jessica Torrey in fifth (1:17.78).
Oswego's distance group added valuable points as well. In the women's 1500 meters,
Julia Weaver (6th),
Grace Stevens (7th), and
Julay Mustafa (8th) all finished in the top eight. The trio also competed in the 800 meters alongside Shatynski, with Shatynski leading the group in sixth (2:56.66).
In the field events, Eric Gordon-Wheeler paced the men with a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw (44.23), fifth in the discus (37.89), and eighth in the shot put (11.97).
Neil Blaisdell added a fifth-place finish in the men's javelin (31.27), while
Rebecca Steiner placed fourth in the women's javelin (20.75).
Riley Flynn contributed a strong performance in the women's long jump, taking third with a mark of 4.71 meters.
