OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team shut out Utica College, 9-0, at home on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Oswego improves to an even 5-5 on the season, while Utica falls to 0-8 overall.
Oswego thrived in singles competition. In every set, the Lakers never allowed their opponent to secure more than one game. At third, fourth and fifth singles,
Chris Gayvert,
Tyler Buxbaum and
Jimmy Terzian all blanked their Utica opponents.
The Lakers were successful throughout doubles as well.
Jon Matros and
Brian Emigholz set the tone with a convincing 8-1 win.
Nick Retzkin and Buxbaum then followed up with an 8-0 victory against the Pioneers.
Dillon McDonald and Terzian concluded doubles action with 8-2 win.
Next, Oswego wraps up its season at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it faces Oneonta on the road.
