Swimming & Diving Teams Split with Brockport

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Behind 11 of 16 event wins, the Oswego State men's swimming and diving program defeated Brockport by a score of 182 to 99.  The win moves the team's record back to .500 at 2-2.  In women's action, the Golden Eagles were victorious by a score of 190-101.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore Ajani Isles was in both winning relays for Oswego and also won the 100-yard backstroke (58.15) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.45).
  • Simon Daw earn three individual event wins (200-yard IM, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle) and anchored the victorious 200-yard medley relay team.
  • In the 1,000-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, junior Matthew Seyse was the top finisher.
  • Seyse led off the winning 200-yard freestyle relay and also earned second to Daw in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Other individual event winners for Oswego were Erick Zizic (100-yard freestyle) and Tomas Rodriguez (200-yard butterfly).
  • Senior Nate Einstein notched 15 team points with second place finishes in three different events.
  • On the women's side, Brockport earned wins in 14 of 16 events to earn the win.
  • The Laker 200-yard medley relay team of Allegra Neglia, Eva Potvin, Keaton Maring and Alexia Lemus got Oswego off on the right foot with a win out of the gate.
  • Brockport won the next two events and then Neglia notched a win in the 100-yard breaststroke to keep things within reach.
  • Four of the next 10 events were decided by less than a quarter of a second and Brockport took five of the top six spots on the diving boards to pull away.
  • Potvin earned another 12 points in individual events with Fion Hon gaining 11.
  • Lemus and Twyla Nastasia each notched eight points with a pair of runner up finishes.
WHAT'S NEXT
The swimming and diving programs return to action on Dec. 3 and 4 at the Cortland Snowflurries Invitational with 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. start times, respectively.
