Lacy Breaks 60-Meter Dash School Record at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y.
– Junior Ashleigh Lacy broke the Oswego State women's track & field program record in the women's 60-meter dash at the RIT Friday Meet #2.  Lacy ran a time of 8.08 seconds in the preliminary round to best the previous record of 8.10 seconds by Deb Richards that had stood since the 2003 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Women's Team
  • Lacy returned later in the meet and finished second of 41 runners in the women's 200-meter dash in a season-best 27.01 seconds.
  • Freshman Faith Coyle dropped 10 seconds off her personal best in the mile run with a time of 5:36.27 and then shaved three off her time in the 800-meter run (2:31.97).
  • Gretchen Dowd also lowered her 800-meter time by just over six seconds with a finish in 2:39.87.
  • Freshman Alandra Jones continued her strong rookie campaign with a new personal-best in the women's shot put (11.96 meters) and taking fourth.
  • Ellen Decker also set a new best in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:45.54, a 24-second improvement.
Men's Team
  • Sophomore Aidan Harrington took first in the men's 400-meter dash with a new personal best of 51.76 seconds, took second in the 200-meter dash (23.16 seconds) and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.44 seconds).
  • Senior Nathan Couse continued to lower his personal-bests this season, cruising to a new low of 4:36.06 in the men's mile run and then another best in the 3,000-meter run (9:17.02).
  • Freshman Andrew Deming shaved eight seconds off his best mile time with a run of 4:43.06.
  • Fellow freshman Miguel Tineo cracked the five-minute mark with a new best of 4:59.96, and junior Dominick Angradi ran a personal best in 5:08.77.
  • Jack Hickey (fourth), Matthew Broadnax (sixth) and Chris Dorney (tenth) were all in the top-10 in the 400-meter dash, with Broadnax and Dorney setting new best times.
  • Hickey and Broadnax were also in the top-10 in the 200-meter dash in a field of 49 runners.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers head back to Nazareth next Friday for a 3:30 p.m. tune-up meet prior to the SUNYAC Championships on Feb. 25-26.
