Track & Field Lowers Times Heading Into SUNYAC's

ROCHESTER, N.Y.
– The Oswego State men's and women's track and field team set 13 different personal best times in a tune-up event at Nazareth College for next weekend's SUNYAC Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Men's Track & Field
  • Sophomore Aidan Harrington was fifth (of 43) in the men's 400-meter dash in 52.16 seconds, eighth (of 75) in the 200-meter dash in 23.31 seconds, and tenth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.15 seconds.
  • Matthew Broadnax (53.44), Chris Dorney (55.20) and Miguel Tineo (59.44) all improved on their previous best times in the 400-meter dash.
  • Tineo returned in the men's 1,000-meter run to shave 10 seconds off his previous best time to finish in ninth.
  • All three men's milers set new personal bests with freshman Andrew Deming running a 4:42.68, classmate Henry Rose at 4:59.65, and junior Dominick Angradi finishing in 5:04.25.
  • In a 56-runner field in the men's 800-meter run, senior Nathan Couse was twenty-third in a new best of 2:05.22 and sophomore Matthew Pietzak was right behind him in 2:05.62.
  • Couse dropped another nine seconds off his fastest time in the 3,000-meter run in 9:08.93 to place eighth while Pietzak shaved 23 seconds off in a 9:38.05 finish.
  • Senior Michael Saavedra was in the top half of the men's shot put field with his throw of 12.43 meters (40' 9.5").
  • Pole vaulter Nathan Jennings was eleventh with a mark of 3.67 meters (12' 0.5").
Women's Track & Field
  • In the women's mile, senior Emily Blake dropped just over 10 seconds off her previous personal best to finish in 5:51.97.
  • Junior Sonia Hernandez lowered her personal best in the 60-meter dash to finish in fourteenth.
  • Ashleigh Lacy matched her season's best in the 200-meter dash (26.83) to finish in eighth.
  • Freshman Ellen Decker dropped 15 seconds off her personal-best in the 3,000-meter run with her time of 11:30.41.
  • In the field, senior Lindsay Fluman was sixteenth (of 32) in the weight throw at 12.16 meters and Abigail Conpropst beat her own personal best with a throw of 10.59 meters (34' 9").
  • Freshman Alandra Jones took seventh, Fluman seventeenth and Conpropst twenty-fourth in the women's shot put.
  • Senior Kayla Guerre was thirteenth (of 34) in the long jump at 4.95 meters (16' 3").
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will head to the SUNYAC Championships hosted by Brockport on February 25-26.
