Women’s Team Finishes Second Overall at North Country Invitational

POTSDAM, NY- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams traveled to Potsdam, NY to take part in the North Country Invitational. The teams competed against SUNY Potsdam, Clarkson University, Oneonta State, and St. Michael's College. The women's team finished second overall with 435 points and the men's team finished fourth with 216 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • The first day of the meet began with the 400 Medley Relay. The women's team of Izzy Dague, Emily Lotito, Abby Hinman, and Jayna Laferriere finished second with a time of 4:17.88. Finishing fourth for the men were Matthew Dambra, Zach Brown, Jake Sarnowksi, and Vinny Mullen with a time of 3:42.54. 
  • In the 500 Freestyle for the women Lotito finished fourth (5:44.25), Anna Baker finished seventh (5:49.98), and Chloe Brown finished in 10th (6:01.82).
  • For the 200 Individual Medley, Maura Waite finished eighth (2:36.07) and Sarnowski placed 10th (2:10.83).
  • In the 50 Freestyle, Laferriere placed third (26.07), Alexia Lemus placed fifth (26.46), McKenna Briggs finished sixth (26.68), Aurora Jarvie placed seventh (26.73).
  • For women's three meter diving, Serena Bardin placed second with 190.55 points and Mackenzie Jewett finished with 150.65 in fourth place.
  • In the 200 Backstroke, Dague finished second (2:18.01), Fion Hon fourth (2:27.58), Waite fifth (2:28.42), and Ashton Laird ninth (2:43.70). Dambra finished third with a time of 2:03.03.
  • Hinman finished third in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:03.93. Lucas McGarry placed 10th with a time of 58.02.
  • Lotito (1:13.75), Briggs (1:15.18), and Jarvie (1:15.81) finished third, fourth, and fifth in the 100 Breaststroke. Brown and Nathan Ratta Vine finished first and second with times of 57.65 and 1:01.09.
  • For the 200 Freestyle Relay, the women's team of Briggs, Jarvie, Lemus, and Laferriere finished second with a finishing time of 1:44.22. The men's team of Dambra, Brown, Mullen, and Duncan Smith finished with a time of 1:30.21 putting them in fourth place.
  • The second day of the invitational began with the 200 Medley Relay. The women's team of Dague, Jarvie, Hinman, and Laferriere finished second with a time of 2:00.15. The men's team of Dambra, Brown, McGarry, and Mullen finished fourth with a time of 1:40.15.
  • In women's one meter diving, Bardin finished second (173.30), Jewett finished fifth (155.75), and Amber Burke finished seventh (142.05).
  • The 400 Individual Medley saw Dague earn second (5:00.96) and Hon earned eighth (5:29.08).
  • For the 100 Freestyle, Laferriere finished fourth (57.23) and Briggs finished sixth (57.60). Dambra finished seventh with a 49.00.
  • In the 200 Butterfly, Hinman placed second with a 2:26.91. Sarnowksi placed sixth with a 2:14.98.
  • For the 200 Breaststroke, Lotito placed second (2:37.40) and Jarvie finished eighth with a 2:50.81. Brown and Ratta Vine again place first and second respectively with times of 2:10.54 and 2:15.71.
  • For the 100 Backstroke Waite finished fourth (1:09.50), Laird seventh (1:11.69), and Lemus eighth (1:11.75).
  • The 200 Freestyle saw Laferriere take fifth (2:06.01), Dague took sixth (2:08.36), and Baker ninth (2:10.39). Dambra took ninth with a 1:51.75.
  • For the last event of the meet the team of Briggs, Jarvie, Dague, and Laferriere took second with a time of 3:54.04. Dambra, Brown, Ratta Vine, and Mullen finished third with a time of 3:18.04.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
 
The Oswego State Swimming and Diving teams will host SUNY Brockport for their first home meet of the season on December 2 at the Laker Pool with a 1:00 PM start time.
