Day 4 Recap From SUNYAC Swim & Dive Championship

BUFALO, NY- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams competed in the final day of the 2023-2024 SUNYAC Championships. Zachary Brown rebroke his school record in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:03.05. Multiple Lakers placed in the top eight for their individual events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brown placed first in the men's 200 Breaststroke prelims and later placed second in finals with a time of 2:03.05 which rebroke his school record.
 
The women's 200 Backstroke saw all four swimmers make finals. In prelims, Isabelle Dague placed seventh, Maura Waite 10th, Fion Hon 12th. Ashton Laird placed 17th as first alternate, and after a scratch moved up to B-finals. Dague finished seventh (2:17.20), Hon 11th (2:20.39), Waite 12th (2:20.44), and Laird 15th (2:27.22) in the finals.
 
Matthew Dambra finished fourth in the 100 Freestyle prelims and fifth at finals with a time of 46.79.
For the women's 100 Freestyle prelims, Jayna Laferriere finished seventh, McKenna Briggs ninth, and Aurora Jarvie 14th. At finals, Laferriere placed eighth (54.18), Briggs 11th (55.34), and Jarvie 16th (57.73).
 
In the men's 200 Breaststroke, Nathan Ratta Vine placed sixth, William Sterling 15th, and Nicholas Mahan 16th in prelims. At finals, Ratta Vine finished fifth (2:09.97), Sterling 15th (2:22.77), and Mahan 16th (2:26.39).
 
Emily Lotito finished fifth and Kaitlin Wheeler 16th in the women's 200 Breaststroke prelims.  For finals, Lotito finished fifth (2:33.20) and Wheeler 16th (2:58.71).
 
Van Wilton placed 15th in the men's 200 Butterfly prelims and in finals finished 14th (2:09.07).
Abigail Hinman finished 12th and Hon 15th in the prelims of the women's 200 Butterfly. In finals, Hon placed 12th (2:31.52), and Hinman 15th (2:37.20). 
 
In the finals of the men's 1650 Freestyle, Jake Sarnowski placed eighth with a time of 17:31.08 and Ryan Liedka finished 13th with a time of 18:38.95.
 
Dague placed fifth with a time of 18:41.11 and Anna Baker 12th with a time of 19:43.76 in the women's 1650 Freestyle finals.
 
Serena Bardin placed ninth in the women's Three Meter Diving prelims. She finished ninth overall, with a score of 329.60.
 
The meet concluded with the 400 Freestyle Relay. The women's team of Briggs, Jarvie, Alexia Lemus, and Laferriere finished fourth with a time of 3:44.76. The men's quartet of Dambra, Ratta Vine, Vincent Mullen, and Ryan Murphy placed fifth with a time of 3:14.85.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego State Swimming and Diving concluded their championship meet in fourth place for the women, and fifth for the men. The women's record was 4-3 and the men's was 3-3-1 overall.
