Oswego N.Y. - SUNY Oswego has announced
Colin Vassallo from men's ice hockey and
Jayna Laferriere from women's swimming and diving as the student-athletes of the Month for February recognizing their outstanding performances throughout the month.
For the second month in a row,
Jayna Laferriere has earned the title of SUNY Oswego's Athlete of the Month for February due to her outstanding achievements in swimming. At the SUNYAC Championships, Jayna was crowned champion three times in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free. Her wins earned her a spot on first team all-conference. Not only did she claim these prestigious titles, but she also set a new Oswego women's record in the 50 free. Laferriere was also named the women's outstanding swimmer of the meet for her performance.
Colin Vassallo has been named SUNY Oswego's Athlete of the Month for February due to his exceptional performance on the ice. Over the course of eight games, Colin showcased his scoring ability by netting 7 goals and providing 7 assists, totaling 14 points. His offensive contributions have been pivotal for the team, placing him among the top players in the conference, ranking 3rd in goals scored and 5th in total points. Men's ice hokey is preparing to play in the SUNYAC Championship game this Saturday March 7th against nationally ranked #1 Hobart.
