Joseph Darling '88 etched his name among the greatest wrestlers in SUNY Oswego history through a career defined by excellence on the national stage. A Division III All-American at 150 pounds in 1986, Darling qualified for the NCAA Championships twice and remains one of the few Lakers to earn national berths in multiple weight classes, competing at both 142 and 150 pounds. One of his most memorable performances came during the 1985 season when he was the lone Oswego wrestler to record a victory against nationally ranked Ithaca, which entered the dual meet ranked sixth in the country and in the midst of a dominant dual-match winning streak.
Caroline Coley Stanistreet '84 was a cornerstone of SUNY Oswego's women's swimming and diving program, leaving a legacy of leadership and record-breaking performances. A two-year team captain, she made an immediate impact by earning the program's Rookie of the Year honors in 1981 before developing into one of the Lakers' most accomplished distance swimmers. At the 1984 SUNYAC Championships, Stanistreet placed second in both the 500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle, showcasing her endurance and competitive excellence. By the conclusion of her career, she held school records in the 200, 500, 1,000, and 1,650-yard freestyle events, as well as the 200, 400, and 800-yard freestyle relays, cementing her place among the program's all-time greats.
Kelly Mraz Mylott '07 established herself as one of the most accomplished players in SUNY Oswego women's basketball history, leaving a lasting impact on the program both statistically and competitively. She finished her career ranked fifth all-time in scoring with 1,195 points and was the driving force behind the Lakers' record-setting 2004–05 campaign, leading the team in scoring, assists, and steals. Mylott's remarkable freshman season earned her SUNYAC First Year Player of the Year honors in 2004, along with a selection to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team and ECAC Upstate Honorable Mention recognition. She elevated her game even further over the next two seasons, earning First Team All-SUNYAC honors in both 2004 and 2005 before being named the SUNYAC Player of the Year following the 2004–05 season. Her accomplishments also extended beyond the conference level, as she garnered First Team ECAC Upstate recognition in 2005.
Jason Hawthorne '02 M'06 distinguished himself as one of the most complete and respected players in SUNY Oswego men's lacrosse history, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. A two-year team captain, Hawthorne remains the program's only USILA Academic All-American, earning the honor in 2002. A dominant midfielder throughout his career, he garnered All-League recognition in each of his four seasons, including three consecutive First Team selections from 2000-02 after earning Honorable Mention honors as a freshman in 1999. His outstanding senior campaign also earned him a place in the prestigious 2002 USILA North/South Game, making him one of only nine Lakers to participate in the event over a 50-year span. Hawthorne finished his career with 126 points on 64 goals and 62 assists, ranking 14th on Oswego's all-time scoring list and third among midfielders in program history. Known for his toughness and relentless work ethic, he captured the Ron Humphreys Memorial Award all four years, awarded to the player with the most ground balls in a season, highlighted by three seasons with more than 100 ground balls. He was equally impactful in the faceoff circle, posting winning percentages above 58 percent in every season and surpassing 70 percent during SUNYAC play in 2001.
Kevin Flynn '81 stands among the most accomplished players in SUNY Oswego men's ice hockey history, combining elite production with exceptional leadership throughout his career. A three-time team captain and two-time SUNYAC champion, Flynn helped guide the Lakers to sustained success during one of the program's most competitive eras. He finished his career with 225 points in 106 games, ranking fifth all-time in program history, while his 94 goals remain tied for fifth and his 131 assists rank fourth among Oswego's all-time leaders. Averaging more than two points per game over his collegiate career, Flynn was a dynamic offensive force who consistently elevated those around him.
Hayden Ward '13 cemented his legacy as one of the most dominant rebounders and consistent performers in SUNY Oswego men's basketball history. A team captain during the 2012–13 season, Ward earned NABC Division III All-America honors in 2013 while also collecting NABC All-East Region recognition in both 2012 and 2013. A model of consistency in SUNYAC play, he was named First Team All-SUNYAC in each of his final three seasons from 2011 through 2013. Ward played a pivotal role on the Lakers' first-ever NCAA Tournament team in 2011 and finished his career with 1,393 points, ranking eighth in program history, and 892 rebounds, which stands second all-time. As a senior, he elevated his game further, averaging 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest, solidifying his reputation as one of the most complete forwards in program history.
