The Oswego State hockey team scored six power-play goals in a 7-4 win over Curry College on Saturday at Romney Field House.
C.J. Thompson had three goals and two assists to lead the Lakers in scoring, and Ryan Ellis contributed a goal and three assists. Ryan Woodward, who entered the night as the nation's leading scorer, contributed two goals and an assist. Oswego State won its eighth game in a row and is now 9-2-0 on the season. The Colonels are 3-1-0.
The Lakers built a 2-0 lead on goals by Ellis and Woodward before Trevor Spiridi answered for Curry. Thompson scored his first of the night early in the second, but Curry?s Bret Adams tallied a power-play goal. Late in the second, Thompson and Matt Whitehead scored in a span of 1:27 to give the Lakers a 5-2 lead. It was Whitehead?s first career goal.
Thompson completed his hat trick 2:22 into the third period. Spiridi and Lucas Irwin scored for the Colonels, and Woodward capped Oswego State's night with yet another power-play goal. Ryan Scott made 23 saves for the Lakers and Lenny Mosca stopped 22 shots for Curry.
Thompson became the sixth Oswego State player to record a hat trick this season. All of those hat tricks have come in the last seven games.
Jocelyn Dubord and Francois Gagnon had two assists each for the Lakers. Oswego State was 6-for-10 on the power play and Curry was 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
