Goalie
Ryan Scott (Williamsville) stopped all 30 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season as the eighth-ranked Oswego State hockey team iced 12th-ranked Fredonia 4-0 on Friday, Feb. 11, at Romney Field House.
The win moved the Lakers to 10-3 in SUNY Athletic Conference play putting them in a first-place tie with Geneseo. Overall, Oswego State is 17-4-3. The loss kept the Blue Devils in third place with a conference mark of 8 -3-2 and 14-4-4 overall.
The Lakers received all of the offense it needed at the 4:58 mark of the opening period as freshman
Tony DiNunzio (King City, ONT) knocked in a pass from
Jean-Simon Richard (Lorraine, QUE). The goal was DiNunzio's 14th of the season and his third game-winner of the year.
Sophomore
Ryan Woodward (Picton, ONT) added to the Oswego State lead late in the period cashing in on the power play. The goal was Woodward's 13th of the season with assists going to
Don Patrick (Fulton) and
Sean Kotary (New Hartford).
Gary Bowman (Evansville, WY) added the final two goals of the game with the first of those coming in the second period. With Oswego State a man down,
Paul Perrier (Aurora, ONT) outskated a Fredonia defender to the puck on the end boards and fed a cutting Bowman in the slot. The senior then fired a shot over the left shoulder of Blue Devil goalie Rick Cazares (San Jose, CA) for the shorthanded tally.
Bowman added his second goal of the game with 1:20 remaining in the contest with
Andy Rozak (Mississauga, ONT) and Perrier each earning assists on the play.
Cazares finished with 42 saves for the Blue Devils.
The Lakers will close out the regular season tomorrow night at 7 p.m. hosting Buffalo State.
