Clarkson doubles up Oswego State 10-5

The Oswego State men's lacrosse team was doubled up by Clarkson University by the score of 10-5 as the two teams squared off at Liverpool High School on Saturday, March 19.

The teams traded goals early in the first quarter with the teams deadlocked at two as Chris Mitchell (Oswego) netted both goals for the Lakers and AJ Heiligman (Webster) and Bryan Johnson (Newark) scoring for the Golden Knights. Mitchell would finish the game with three goals for Oswego State.
That was as close as the Lakers would get as Clarkson scored three goals in the final 5:38 of the quarter for a 5-2 advantage.

Clarkson added to its lead scoring the only goal in the second quarter as Jon Cathcart (Homer) scored on a man-up situation.

In the second half, the Golden Knights were able to control the tempo, preventing the Lakers from mounting a comeback. Clarkson outscored Oswego State 4-3 over the final 30 minutes of the game.

In goal for Oswego State, Al Simeone (Binghamton) had a busy game with 19 saves, while Joe Zembrowski (Liverpool) made seven saves for the Golden Knights.

Brian Hanlon (Marcellus) led Clarkson with two goals and three assists.

The Lakers play again on Wednesday, March 23, hosting St. Lawrence University at 4 p.m. at the South Athletic Complex.
