Plattsburgh outguns Oswego State in men's lacrosse

The Plattsburgh Cardinals built a five-goal lead in the first half and went on to a 14-9 win over Oswego State in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Laker Field in Oswego.

Three Laker players scored two goals each -- Steve Tronovitch, Mike Strohm, and Mike Recor. Tronovitch also had two assists in the contest. The other Laker goals were scored by Mike Brewster, John Schumacher, and Paul Palucci. Laker goalies Judd Robinson (12 saves) and Matt Pfister (8 saves) split the duties in the cage.

The Cardinals got six goals and two assists from Frank Sangiovanni, and two goals and four assists from Kyle Norchi in the victory. Plattsburgh goalie Michael Dell'Aera played the second half of the game and made seven saves in the fourth quarter to stymie Oswego State's comeback attempt.

Plattsburgh led 5-2 after the first quarter and 10-5 at halftime. The Cardinals are now 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC. Oswego State fell to 3-7 and 0-3 in the conference.

The Lakers will host nationally-ranked RIT on Monday at 4 p.m. in a game that was rescheduled earlier in the season due to inclement weather conditions.
