The Oswego State baseball team scored four runs in the last three innings, but fell one short in the comeback bid in a 5-4 loss to Cazenovia at Laker Field in Oswego on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats are now 7-12 on the year while Oswego State fell to 12-8.
Cazenovia's big inning came in the top of the second when they scored four times. The Wildcats loaded the bases with a single and two walks, and Brian Petrick delivered an RBI single. Another single by Erik White brought in two more runs. The fourth run scored on a ground out by Chris Fantacone that brought in Petrick.
The Wildcats tacked on another run in the fifth on two walks and a throwing error.
Oswego State's rally started in the bottom of the seventh when the Lakers scored two runs on a two-run single by Nick Marzullo that plated Mike Levy and Steve Guckemus.
The Lakers added two more runs in the eighth when Brett Shaffer doubled to left field to bring home Levy and Guckemus.
Shaffer, Marzullo, and Guckemus had two hits each for Oswego State.
Joe Pallone pitched the ninth inning to get the save for Cazenovia. Erik Tylutki started for the Wildcats and pitched the first three innings, followed by Aaron Wismar who threw the next three innings.
Laker starter Rob Johnson lasted an inning and a third and took the loss. Justin Storie pitched the middle section of the game and Adam Harendza held Cazenovia hitless over the last two innings.
The Lakers return to action on Thursday at Keuka at 3 p.m.
