The Oswego State women's soccer team came out on the losing end of another overtime game Wednesday evening in Canton. The Lakers lost 2-1 in double overtime to the St. Lawrence Saints on MacAllaster Field, marking the second time in three games this season that Oswego State lost in overtime.
The Lakers took a 1-0 lead early in the second half on an unassisted goal by Ashley Pople. her goal came just 3:39 into the second half. The host Saints equalized with 21:13 left in the second half as Lauren Sischo scored on an assist from Lizzie Bogosian.
The game remained deadlocked in the second half despite the Saints holding a 12-3 shots advantage over the 45-minute session. Oswego State had a goal disallowed in the first overtime, and Sischo scored with 4:40 remaining in the second overtime period to give the Saints the win. The game-winning goal was assisted by Katie McHugh.
Oswego State goalkeeper Toby Klein made 14 saves in the game, including 10 in the second half.
The Lakers have scored a goal in each of their first three games, and did not accomplish such a three-game streak during the entire 2006 campaign.
Oswego State (0-3-0) will begin SUNYAC play on Saturday with a road game at Oneonta at 1 p.m.
