The Oswego State men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the year, defeating Farmingdale 9-8 on Sunday afternoon in Farmingdale.
The Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals by junior midfielder Mike Recor. Farmingdale State scored two goals late in the second period. Freshman attack Joey Stroessenreuther tied it with two seconds left in the half.
Oswego State broke the tie in the third period with a quick goal by sophomore attack Dan Scarazzo only 15 seconds after the start of play. The Lakers outscored Farmingdale 4-2 in the third period.
The Lakers would take a commanding 8-4 lead with 13:01 left in the game on Scarazzo's second goal of the afternoon. Farmingdale answered with two goals within 35 seconds. Freshman attack Cam Davoy scored the eventual game-winning goal with 7:54 remaining, giving Oswego State a 9-6 lead. Rifice added two more late in the fourth as the Rams tried to mount a comeback.
Oswego State was led by Recor with three goals. Davoy had two goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Dan Rogers added a goal, two assists and eight ground balls. Sophomore goalie Judd Robinson had 14 saves.
