Oswego State moves back over .500 with sweep of Keuka

The Oswego State baseball team swept a pair of non-conference games against visiting Keuka on Monday at Laker Field in Oswego. The Lakers won the first game 13-2 and won the second game 4-2.

Oswego State is now 5-4 on the season, and Keuka fell to 2-16 this year. The Lakers will play at Utica on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a single, nine-inning contest.

The Lakers scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in a win over Keuka in the first game of the doubleheader. Mike Levy was 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs for the Lakers. Brandon Wroblewski was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run. Tom Benedetto and Wes O'Connor each had two hits and two RBIs in the contest in support of Dustin Lefave, who allowed just four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks in earning the complete game victory.

Oswego State 4, Keuka 2
Dan Pecora's two-out triple to left field brought in the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Lakers pulled out the second game of the day. P.J. Cowie entered the game in relief of starter Alex Jarvela with one out in the top of the fifth. Cowie was able to work out of a jam in that inning, and then retired the final six batters to earn the win in relief. Jarvela allowed two runs, but both were unearned.

Brett Shaffer and Josh Stoetzel each had two hits and an RBI in the game.
