Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) scored a game-high five goals, three of them coming in the first half, while seniors
Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) and
Derek Card (Syracuse/Henninger) tallied two goals each, and classmate
Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) dished out four assist as Oswego State picked up its first win of the season with an 11-5 triumph over host Farmingdale State College on Tuesday, March 10.
Farmingdale (1-2) scored the game's first goal at the 4:43 of the first quarter before the Lakers (1-2) ran off nine unanswered goals, which started at the 5:40 mark in the opening quarter and ended 1:45 into the third quarter.
Davoy scored all of his goals in the stretch, while senior Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse Minoa) added both of his goals and Card (Syracuse/Henninger) contributed a goal and an assist. Brewster tallied three of his assists in the opening half as Oswego outshot Farmingdale 20-16 (10-6 in the second quarter) to jump out to an 8-1 lead.
Card finished with a pair of goals and an assist, while and senior Marcus Peworchik (Horseheads/Notre Dame) and sophomore Dan Rogers (Boston, NY/Frontier) each tallied single scores. Rogers won all six faceoff attempts, while junior Dan Wilcox (Hamburg/Frontier) picked up six ground balls, and senior defenseman Eddie Walsh (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) registered six caused turnovers as the Lakers forced 23 Farmingdale turnovers for the game. Junior goalkeeper Judd Robinson (Guilderland) made 15 saves in picking up his first win of the year in the circle.
Oswego will face 20th ranked Nazareth College in its home opener on Friday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m. on Laker Field.
