Lakers defeat Keuka, 7-6, on last-second goal by Decker

After being outplayed in the game's first two quarters, Oswego State held host Keuka College scoreless for the entire second half while scoring five unanswered goals, including the game winner by sophomore Pat Decker (Spencerport) on the man-up advantage with 20 seconds remaining, en route to a 7-6 triumph in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, March 21 at Boswell Field on the campus of Hobart College.

The Lakers (2-4) were outshot 15-9 in the opening two quarters and were called for four one-minute penalties as Keuka (0-3) took a 7-2 halftime lead. Oswego opened the second half with a pair of goals 1:14 into the third quarter as Dan Scarazzo (Fairport) scored 12 seconds into the quarter, followed by a score from senior Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) more than a minute later. The period remained scoreless for a seven minute stretch before senior Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) scored two of his game-high three goals, including the game-tying score with two seconds to play in the quarter.

The final quarter saw both teams combine for 21 total shots (11-10 Keuka), with nine going on goal (5-4 Oswego), with Decker breaking the stalemate in the final seconds.

Sophomore Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), Decker and Brewster each added a goal and an assist for Oswego, with Brewster extending his string of games with at least a point to 18 games. Senior Dan Rogers (Boston/Frontier), junior Ryan White (Rockville Center/Southside), and sophomore Eric Zerrahn (Oswego) each contributed assists.  Rogers won eight of 14 faceoffs and picked up a team-high five ground balls, while Zerrahn caused five Keuka turnovers.
