Lakers can't avoid three St. Lawrence scoring runs in 13-4 loss

Oswego State scored the game's first goal early in the first half, but 20th-ranked and visiting St. Lawrence went on consecutive goal scoring runs in the second, third, and fourth quarters en-route to a 13-4 win over the Lakers on Wednesday, March 25 in a non-conference matchup on Laker Field.

Senior Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) scored the game's opening goal 4:51 seconds into the first quarter before the Saints tied the score with 57 seconds remaining in the quarter.  St. Lawrence dominated the second quarter with three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 halftime lead.

Both teams exchanged goals to open the third quarter, with St. Lawrence senior Alex Slauson scoring 41 seconds into the third quarter and Laker junior Dan Scarazzo scoring on the man-up advantage at 2:48, before the Saints (2-2) put the game away with four consecutive goals, three coming in the final five minutes of the quarter and a score 50 seconds into the fourth quarter, to jump out to a 9-2 lead.

Oswego (2-5) came back with back-to-back scores, a man-up goal from freshman Spencer Mallia (Buffalo/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) at 6:56 and a short-handed man-down unassisted score by Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa)  at 9:03, before the Saints (2-2) closed with a four-goal run in a 2:27 span.

Slauson was the leading scorer for St. Lawrence with five goals, four coming in the third quarter, while Kyle Benton added a pair of goals. St. Lawrence used two goalies, with Thomas Hollingsworth playing 56:17 in making six saves, while Oswego junior Judd Robinson (Guilderland) played the entire game, stopping 15 shots.

The Lakers take to the road to face Utica College for a 1 p.m. non-conference matchup.
