Oswego (2-6) trailed the Pioneers, 2-1, after the opening quarter, and 4-2 in the first 3:47 of the second quarter before four of the final five goals in the period to take a 6-5 lead at the half. Recor scored a pair of goals in the run (man-up at 6:55, even at 9:50), while junior Ryan White (Rockville Center/Southside) sophomore Spencer Mallia (Buffalo/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) added single scores.
Utica (4-3) scored the tying and the eventual go-ahead goals to take a 7-6 lead 6:34 into the third quarter before the Lakers tied it up on an unassisted goal from Rogers more than a minute later. The Pioneers, however, took the lead for good with a pair of even strength goals to end the quarter.
Both teams exchanged goals five times in the final quarter, the last coming on a goal from sophomore Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) 5:44 into the quarter to pull Oswego to within a goal at 12-11. But Utica scored three times in the final 5:36 to put the game out of reach.
Junior Judd Robinson (Guilderland) stopped 17 shots in goal for the Lakers, who were outshot 45-28 by the host Pioneers. Utica also held the edge in ground balls (38-28) and won 18 of 28 faceoffs.
Oswego opens SUNYAC play on the road with a 1 p.m. matchup with Morrisville State on Saturday, April 4.

Mike Brewster extended his consecutive points streak to 20 games with a pair of assists, but Oswego State could not hold off a pesky Utica College squad, who overcame a one-goal halftime deficit by outscoring the Lakers 4-1 in the third quarter en-route to a 14-10 win in non-conference action on Friday, March 28 in Utica.
