The Oswego State men's lacrosse team put together a come-from-behind rally for the second time in three days, outscoring host College of Brockport, 4-1 in the fourth quarter to rally from a two-goal deficit en route to a 7-5 triumph in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday, April 11 at Brockport.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Lakers (6-6, 3-0 SUNYAC), matching their longest winning streak in seven years, and also putting them in a tie for first place in the conference standings with SUNY Geneseo, who are also unbeaten at 3-0 after winning a pair of SUNYAC contest this week, including an 8-6 win over defending champion Cortland.
The Golden Eagles (4-4, 2-1 SUNYAC) led 5-3 after scoring their second straight goal 1:26 into the final quarter before Oswego scored twice in a 1:05 span. Sophomore attack Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) scored a man-up goal off a pass from senior midfielder Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) at the 3:10 mark before Brewster tied the score with the first of his two goals in the period.
Junior Dan Scarazzo netted the game-winning goal with an unassisted score at the 10:01 mark before Brewster scored his second of the game at 12:19. Brewster finished with a game-high tying three points, stretching his consecutive game points streak to 25 games. Davoy also finished with a pair of goals, while seniors Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Nick DeFeo (Great River/East Islip) added single scores for the Lakers, who held a 33-26 shots advantage for the game.
Junior goalkeeper Judd Robinson (Guilderland) stopped nine shots on goal, seven of them in the second half, to get the complete-game win.
Oswego will close out its four-game road swing with a 4 p.m. matchup with Cortland on Wednesday, April 15, before closing out the regular season with three straight home contest, beginning with a 2 p.m. showdown with Plattsburgh on Saturday, April 18.
