Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) provided three-quarters of Oswego State's offense, while junior goalkeeper
Judd Robinson (Guilderland) made 16 saves as the Lakers completed their regular-season schedule with a 12-6 victory over Oneonta State in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) finale for both teams on Saturday, April 25 at Laker Field.
The game marked the final home appearance of eight Laker seniors, which included Brewster and Recor, attacks
Derek Card (Syracuse/Henninger) and
Nick DeFeo (Great River/East Islip), midfielder
Dan Rogers (Boston, NY/Frontier), and defenders
Chris Knapp (Camillus/West Genesee),
Eddie Walsh (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy), and
Brad McConkey (Oswego).
Recor scored a game-high five goals, while Brewster scored three goals and added an assists, extending his streak of consecutive games with a point to 29. Card and DeFeo scored a goal each along with sophomore Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and junior Dan Scarazzo (Fairport).
Oswego (8-8, 5-2 SUNYAC) led 4-1 after two quarters as Brewster scored two of the teams opening three goals. The Lakers extended their lead to 8-3 through three quarters as Recor tallied three goals and a score by Davoy. Both teams scored four times in the final period and combined for nine penalties for 6:30
Oneonta (6-9, 2-5 SUNYAC) outshot Oswego, 44-35 (29-14 in the second half) and won 15 of 22 faceoffs, while the Lakers controlled the ground balls, 35-33.
Oswego finishes in third-place finish in conference play and will travel to Cortland to face the defending champion Red Dragons in the semifinals of the SUNYAC playoffs on Wednesday, April 29 at a time to be determined.
