The Oswego State men's lacrosse team took an early 2-0 lead in the first minute before nationally-ranked St. John Fisher went on a nine-goal run as the Lakers lost 19-8 on Saturday afternoon in Oswego. The Cardinals' Mike Cummins recorded four goals in the contest as teammate Dave Malone compiled a team-best six points on two goals and four assists. Oswego State's Andy Lever (So., Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) tallied two goals and one assist each to pace the Lakers. Oswego State, which fell to 1-5 overall, will host Utica on Wednesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. at Oswego High School. St. John Fisher remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0 overall.

Dan Scarazzo netted the game's first goal six seconds into the contest to get the home team and fans fired up after receiving a feed from Bobby Pattridge (So., Henrietta, N.Y.).  The Lakers continued to feed off of the energy when Mike Wiesenthal (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) put them ahead 2-0 seconds later with senior Ryan White (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) earning an assist.

However, the Cardinals scored nine straight goals between the first and second quarters before Chad Smith's (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) unassisted goal stopped the string with Oswego State trailing 9-3.  St. John Fisher went on to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.

The Lakers closed out the contest strong adding goals from White, Scarazzo, and Andy Lever in the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter, but the damage had already been done as the Cardinals claimed the 19-8 win.

In addition to Lever and Scarazzo's multi-point efforts, White finished with one goal and two assists followed by two goals from Wiesenthal.  Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) ended the day with 11 saves for the loss.
