Sophomore Andy Lever (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded two goals and two assists to help lead the Oswego State men's lacrosse team to a 6-4 win over SUNY Maritime on Sunday afternoon in New York City. The Lakers scored the first three goals of the game, and never looked back en route to their first victory of the season improving to 1-1 overall. Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) also had a big game in goal making 13 saves, including four in the fourth period. The Privateers fell to 1-2 on the season.

Andy Lever got the Laker scoring started 3:14 into the game with an unassisted goal as Oswego State received two more goals from Bobby Pattridge (So., Henrietta, N.Y.) and Brad Teal (So., Williamsville, N.Y.) over the next four minutes.  SUNY Maritime struck with 14 seconds left on the clock in the first period to cut the Laker lead to 3-1, which was where the score stood at halftime as well.

SUNY Maritime's Michael Hanratty pulled his team to within one goal late in the third period, but Oswego State responded two minutes later when Lever posted his second goal of the contest after receiving a pass from Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) for a 4-2 advantage.

The Privateers tallied two goals in the fourth period on man-up opportunities.  However, the Lakers answered back each time with goals from Chad Smith (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) and Pattridge to always maintain the lead.  SUNY Maritime had a pair of chances to tie the game in the fourth minute, but Robinson came up with the key saves to keep the two-goal lead intact.

Oswego State went 0-for-4 on man-up opportunities compared to the Privateers going 2-for-6.

The Lakers will next face Nazareth in Rochester on Saturday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
