The Oswego State baseball bats were limited to just four hits on the day as the Lakers fell to Brockport by the scores of 3-0 and 4-0. The Golden Eagles' Steve Locke threw a no-hitter in game one, while the Oswego State offense was stymied again in game two. The Lakers dropped to 10-8 overall and 1-5 in SUNYAC play, while Brockport moved to 14-9 overall and 4-3 in the league.
The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Mike Meola hit a two-RBI single with two outs. Brockport manufactured another run in fifth for the three-run advantage, which was more than enough for Locke, who struck out 11 Oswego State batters in the game. Freshman Dan Erne (Rochester, N.Y.) suffered the loss giving up one earned run in 4.1 innings, while Jon Stevens (Fr., Chittenango, N.Y.) surrendered two hits over 3.2 innings.
The offense did not fare much better in the second game of the twinbill as the Lakers recorded just four hits and struck out 11 times. The Golden Eagles scored once in the first and the third innings before crossing home plate twice in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead. Oswego State's pitching staff allowed just four hits, but Brockport's offense was able to produce timely hitting for its runs.
The Lakers will host SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m.
