The Oswego State men's lacrosse team trailed 3-0 after the first five minutes against Potsdam, and the Lakers were never able to catch up in a 15-11 loss to the Bears on Wednesday afternoon in Oswego. Oswego State out-shot Potsdam 37-23, but Bear goalie Billy Richards came up with 12 saves to keep the Lakers off of the scoreboard. Oswego State fell to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in SUNYAC play, while Potsdam moved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Ryan White (Sr., Rockville Centre, N.Y.) put the Lakers on the board after getting a feed from Britt Leone (So., Schenectady, N.Y.).  Pat Decker (Jr., Spencerport, N.Y.) pulled Oswego State to within one goal with 4:45 left in the first quarter, but Potsdam regained the two-goal advantage less than a minute later when Sean McAuliffe scored.
Both squads traded goals throughout the second quarter until the Bears closed out the half with a pair of scores to take an 8-5 lead into the intermission.  The trend continued into the third quarter, but McAuliffe posted the first of three straight Potsdam goals to put the Bears out in front 13-7 with 13:37 left to play.
Oswego State was not done, though, as #Andy Williams3 (So., Hamburg, N.Y.) scored two consecutive goals to cut the deficit to four goals at 13-9.  However, the deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Lakers fell 15-11.
Three Potsdam players tallied three goals each led by Garrett Sharp, who finished the game with six points.  The Oswego State offense was paced by Andy Lever (So., Lindenhurst, N.Y.), who contributed three points on two goals and one assist.  Smith and Williams joined Lever with two goals.  In goal, Laker goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) suffered the loss after making six saves.
Oswego State will have the week off until Wednesday, April 21 when it hosts non-conference Keuka at 4 p.m.
