The Oswego State men's lacrosse team erased a one-goal fourth quarter deficit to defeat Brockport 11-9 to pick up a critical win in the race for the SUNYAC Playoffs. The Lakers scored three goals in under three minutes with two of those goals coming from the stick of Andy Lever (So., Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to take their first lead of the game. Oswego State improved to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles fell to 7-5 overall and 1-3 in the league.

With the score knotted at 2-2 in the first quarter, Brockport closed out the first half with three goals from three separate players.  The Golden Eagles took a 6-2 lead early in the second when Andy Hilton tallied his third goal of the game in a man-up situation.  However, the Lakers received goals from Chad Smith (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.), Pat Decker (Jr., Spencerport, N.Y.), and Britt Leone (So., Schenectady, N.Y.) to make the score 6-5.  Brockport added a goal just before the half to take a two-goal lead into the second half.

Both defenses got tougher in the third quarter as both offenses struggled to get quality looks at the net.  Nevertheless, Oswego State out-scored the Golden Eagles 2-1 in the stanza after goals by Decker and Adam Jean (Fr., Tully, N.Y.) to make the score 8-7 with 15 minutes to play.

In the fourth quarter, Andy Lever scrambled to get free to the defender before ripping his second goal of the game past Brockport goalie Kyle Crosley to even the score with 10:32 remaining in regulation.  Less than two minutes later, Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) found Andy Williams (So., Hamburg, N.Y.) for the go-ahead goal and the Lakers' first lead of the contest.  Oswego State won the ensuing face-off resulting in Lever's third score to give it a two-goal lead.  The Golden Eagles were not finished, though, as Adam Drypolcher scored nine seconds later.  Brockport had just killed off a man-down situation when Mike Wiesenthal (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) ripped a shot from the left side to give the Lakers a two-goal cushion with 3:43 remaining.

Oswego State's defense held its ground in the waning moments of the game as the Golden Eagles battled to get back into the game.  On Senior Day, a pair of seniors, Ryan White (Sr., Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Nick Zoyhofski (Sr., Hamburg, N.Y.), forced two key turnovers to preserve the 11-9 victory.  Another senior Judd Robinson (Guilderland, N.Y.) had a strong performance in goal after making 14 saves, including nine in the second half as the Lakers got back into the game.  Crosley finished with 16 saves for Brockport with 12 coming in the first 30 minutes.

With the Oswego State victory and other results around the league, four teams sit in the final playoff spot with 1-3 records and two conference games to play. The Lakers will play their final home game of the season on Wednesday against Cortland starting at 4 p.m. before traveling to Plattsburgh on Saturday for the regular season finale.
