Box Score

The Oswego State men's lacrosse team stuck with ninth-ranked Geneseo through the first half, but the Blue Knights scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to hand the Lakers a 12-5 loss on Saturday afternoon in Geneseo. Senior midfielder Nick Zoyhofski (Hamburg, N.Y.) carried the bulk of the offensive load for the Lakers as he tallied three goals. Oswego State fell to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC, while Geneseo improved to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in the league.

The Blue Knights appeared to be headed into the second quarter with a 2-1 lead before Chad Smith (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) netted his fifth goal of the season with one second left on the clock.  Geneseo went on to out-score the Lakers 3-1 in the second to take a 5-3 halftime lead.

Four different Blue Knights scored in the third quarter giving Geneseo a 9-3 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.  Both squads were kept off of the scoreboard for most of the fourth until Zoyhofski posted his second goal of the game with 4:49 remaining after receiving a pass from Brad Teal (So., Williamsville, N.Y.).  However, the Blue Knights would score three of the contest's final four goals for a 12-5 victory.

Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) recorded 18 saves, including seven in the fourth quarter, and seven groundballs.  Geneseo goalie Dennis Costanza finished with 11 saves.

The Lakers return to action at home on Monday, April 5 against Morrisville at 1 p.m.
